Save Our Snails
This week we went to the museum.
We went to learn about some giant snails which are endangered. This means they may become extinct.
They have an amazing name which we could all say by the end of our trip... Powelliphanta.
Miss Whitehead's favourite thing about the trip was that lots of parents came to help and they got to teach Room 9 children too!
Thank you Dale for your amazing lessons on traps!

The Twits
We have been reading a book by Roald Dahl called The Twits. We are beginning to enjoy listening to chapter books and using our imagination! Mr and Mrs Twit are always playing tricks on each other!
We have been learning to make our writing interesting. How do you think we have done?
We have retold a chapter of the story, enjoy our writing.
Mrs Twit dug up some worms. Mrs Twit was watching Mr Twit eat yuck worms from the other side of the table. She said it was tasty. Burp! That was to pay him back for the frog trick. Ha ha. It was mucky worms. I like tricking people because it is funny.
By Louisa
Mrs Twit dug up some yucky stripy worms. Then she mixed the worms in with the spaghetti on her husbands plate. Mrs Twit waited until her husband had eaten a whole plateful. I felt happy because it made me laugh.
By Michael
Mrs Twit played a trick on Mr Twit. She dug up some worms from the garden. Mr Twit slurped the slimy worms up. At dinner when he ate them all up Mrs Twit stamped her feet on the floor and rocked the chair. She said ha ha. She felt happy. Then Mr Twit got frustrated. I don't like tricks because my sisters trick me.
By Abbey
Mrs Twit went into the garden and dug up some worms. She cooked them for tea then they ate spaghetti. Mr Twit wiped his beard with a corner of the table cloth. It is fun playing tricks on people.
By Logan
Mrs Twit got some worms from the garden. She cooked them for lunch and plated the worms in her husbands spaghetti. Mrs Twit told Mr Twit why his spaghetti was moving. It was worms. She was rocking on her chair with terrible laughter and stamping her feet.
By Baillie
Slurp, slurp, slurp! Mrs Twit dug up some fat worms. She cooked them on the stove. Next she gave them to Mr Twit. She told Mr Twit why they were squiggling and she said they were worms. She laughed and laughed. Mt Twit was mad. It is really funny to play tricks on someone. Mr Twit was really, really angry.

Class adventure term 2
Last Friday we went on an adventure up View Mount Street!
We went to investigate the big slip that happened in December. We remembered that planting trees helps to protect the hills and keep them safe during heavy rains. We saw what changes happened to the hillside that didn't have enough trees on it.

Our Place - a new Inquiry!
We made some sandcastles. We tipped water over them. The sandcastles fell down.
Then we saw a tent with tools, a blanket, a jacket, some canned food. We thought about what these things might be used for if was there was a natural disaster.
